I Will Sing!

I Will Sing E.P. Cover

The E.P. is finally finished.

6 songs total 2 totally new songs, 3 new arrangements, and my favorite hymn with a new chorus.

Can’t wait for you to hear it. This week I will schedule the last few things so we can release it the first part of September. Those on my mailing list will have first shot at it and then release to the general public.

Thank you Aaron and Dominick Wagner of the Grey Room in Larkspur for all of your amazing creativity and hard work. I did not have the vision for this that you had. You made it something I can be very proud of.

Stay tuned here as things unfold. It’s the best place to stay informed.

Here’s a little teaser for you.

Exciting News!

Well at least for me.

I’ve hesitated to talk to you about this because I’ve been talking about having a book available for going on 3 years now, which is still in the works by the way, so I didn’t want to talk about this until it was a done deal.

About a month ago I began working on an EP with some amazing people at The Grey Room studio in Larkspur Colorado. These guys are very creative, Kingdom minded, and full of vision. I’m so excited for you to hear these songs.

The E.P. will be six or seven songs. We have four tracked so far. Faithful One is pretty true to the original with a full band, I Will Sing has a new chorus and we’ve added a bridge, You Pursue Me is still stripped down and worshipful, and last week the equipment wasn’t working so we decided to write. This Thursday we tracked the song. It talks about the wilderness I’ve been in the last, seems like forever, and the truth of where my faithful, loving Father has been the whole time. So excited about how this is coming together. The other two or three songs are still to be decided.

I spoke to Aaron and Dominick about the project just before Christmas and they agreed to let me work on one song at a time until the money came in. In a matter of about 3 weeks all but a few $100.00 came in incredible unexpected ways. This is going to happen and hopefully in the next 60 – 90 days.

I’ll keep you posted as we get closer. Please pray for us as we  decide what the final few songs should be and prepare to do the final vocal tracking.

Thank you for being a faithful friend.

Things that make me smile

For some reason I’m in a funk today, and yes Nelson I know what you think 🙂

Maybe partly because there is so much on my mind and partly because I’ve been listening to melancholy music all morning. Then for a change I dialed up Lincoln Brewster’s newest offering “Real Life” Cut number 5 is one of my favorites of his called “So Good”.

So here it is for your listening, and viewing pleasure. I hope it makes you smile too.

I’m One Of A Kind

I have always said “if you meet another Trobee were related”. Although I have been introduced to some Trobee’s in Florida that my Aunt, who has done much research tells me are not related.

Now a website howmanyofme.com will tell you if your unique. According to the U.S. census.

Although Gary is the 41st most popular name in the U.S. with 1.009.545 people sharing my first name there are only 115 Trobee’s. The end result is I am the only Gary Trobee in America. Pretty cool I think.

Check it out.

New Song

As you know earlier this year I set some goals. One was to write 30 songs this year.

Not doing to well so far but there’s still lots of time to make it happen. I have 3 I could call finished but had the urge to record yesterday so thought I would post one so you would know I’m not just making up numbers.

I know I’m not supposed to apologize for it before you even hear it so here is my apology. I’m going for quantity not quality. I’m also trying things I don’t normally do. Some of the lyrics are cliche’ I know that and there is a flat 7 chord in the bridge. It’s the old hymn I told you about reworked. So it sounds a bit old country.

There you go you can give a listen in several places. I have widgets all over the place.

If your reading this in Facebook you can go to my profile and click on “my band” you’ll see it on top of the list there.

If your reading the blog fed into anywhere else you can go to the widget on my profile main page.

If you happen to be on the blog itself there is a widget on the right side toward the bottom.

You can also find it here and here.

I don’t plan to leave it up long since it’s pretty raw and I will use that space the next time I want to share.

would love your feedback. Please be gentle :-}

The First Day

Today I begin working toward the goals for 2010.

I have found a place to set up recording equipment and have a plan for writing the book and for getting in shape to ride the copper triangle.

Haven’t found a countdown widget so I’ll just keep track and post progress. Thanks for keeping me accountable.

Looking Forward

2009 was a year of sowing and growth. I look for 2010 to be a year of continued sowing and growth however I am also expecting some harvest.

“A Broken House” a small book about my heart for the church is finished and on it’s way to the editor. Last night I laid out a plan to write the next one. It will be called “The Language of Heaven”. This morning I woke up singing a chorus for the first time in a very long time.

As I was on my way to mens prayer this morning I made a decision to set a songwriting goal. Later in the day it occurred to me to set a goal to finish the book as well. Then my friend Tom called and reminded me about a ride we had talked about late last year. So here are the 2010 goals.

  • Have “The Language of Heaven” written by July 1st
  • Write 35 songs by Christmas break, (Tom thinks this is too many)
  • Ride the Copper Triangle on August 7th, 2010

The ride supports the Davis Phinney Foundation for parkinson’s If you would like to  make a contribution you can contact me here.

So there you have it. I’ll look for a countdown widget for the blog and you can keep me accountable. I appreciate all of you reading and your encouragement.
